A friend of mine in Saudi Arabia told me about this book. She was excited because he mentioned her town in the book and her town appeared in the maps too. She urged me to buy a copy of this book. So, I did!

Well, I wasn't that excited as her in the beginning (as he didn't mention OMAN), but I became so excited that I read the book many times.

First, I was taking by the story…the characters and what happened to each one or the description of places and peoples. My imagination worked very well that I imagined everything, put myself "as usual" in the story…watch the characters, and infect by events…etc.

It's really interesting book and take you into historical era that effected our area.
There are some points touched me while I was reading the book. The writer who is Thomas Edward Lawrence was mysterious character. I felt he was desperate and unhappy for his family life as he was "illegal" child for his parents. In addition, I think he loved the Arabian life and wanted to stay and forgot his "mission". He was professional swindler and managed to deceive Arabs. He said in the book that he hates his deceit and he wanted to stop this circle of deception, but he was already involved.

Now, that was my feeling about him and his role in all that events. In a point, I felt he turned to be ugly and monster as he killed one of the boys…there was 2 boys, one died and the other one injured badly later and for that Lawrence killed him without any regret!! No….he enjoyed killing!….That was ugly!!!

On the other hand, He described the "Athan" in the last chapter as he heard the caller of the dawn prayer in Damascus called people for praying with tender and sweet voice. That –as he said- touched him and that made him feel lonelier.

However …the most IMPORTANT and SERIOUS text in the books was this:

((Here he says that Britain declared different promises for different groups. A- For Shareif Hussein … B- For the Allies … C- For Arabian Committee in Cairo … D- For Lord Rothschild, which was new in its meaning…as they promised his fellows Jews something suspicious in Palestine.))

"Do you know Rothschild Family?!… YES…I do!.
I watched once a documentary film about this wealthy family.
How they started!??.
They were 5 brothers separated and each one settled down and started his business in one of the main countries in Europe. Each one of them controlled the biggest trades of each country. England, France,…etc.
I really admired them…Do you know why?!…
Because they knew how they can rule and control the societies of Europe countries. They are not aristocratic, but still have power in the nobility.
Who is in England tried to make a relationship by marriage with the royal family. They wanted Prince Charles to marry one of their daughters. Well, he was lucky man to survive and to marry Lady Diana.
Anyways, they are very united family despite any differences or disagreements. That's what make them still big and still have power even thought some of them died tragically, Drugs or committing suicide."

Well, as you can see…they achieved their promise for that Lord and Palestine fell into devils' hands. But, is he really didn't know anything that promise?!!

Was he good or bad man and forced to be spy and dirty agent?!!.

I found 2 articles about him by Dr. Ahmed Al Qadeedi in local newspaper year ago… about his role in "Afghanistan"!!??........believe it or not……he went there secretly and he disguised to do his new Foxy mission.
(I still have those papers!)
"Laurence Of Arabia was a spy in Afghanistan in 1926 according to French intelligence. There are lots of details about his mission there and how he did that to serve British interests. He changed his name twice and went there to set fire of revolution and disobedience against the (infidel) king. WHY? Because the king opened his door for Russia and France and that worried British and their own interests. The king was interested in western culture and he could speak French. He sent his son to Paris to study in French school and he brought experts from Paris to train his army. He wanted to make his country a modern country. The religious tribes weren't happy and what Laurence did is stirring up their discontent against their king. Yes…he did it…"

was he a hero…No…not in my point of view, but I felt so sorry for him…for his " freakish" life…he used to escape from his "real life" to new life that he tried to adopt, but that didn't work as I assume. So, he stuck into that circle of lying and deceiving. He chose that life of deception or "hit and run".
Poor Fox Man.

He hated this title (Laurence Of Arabia)…I think he was right to hate it…who likes to link to Arabs…who likes to link to us…

We are Arabs… losers
We can't be like him
We can't be wily and heartless
We can't get rid of our stupid
goodness, generosity and favorable judgment.
We had stricken by this compassion and good intentions.
But, what we can do to this nature that God gave it to us…
Thank God for what you gave us!
